Next meeting April 17, at Lentz Public Health Center

The MHC/CoC Governance Workgroup continues to meet on a regular basis and is revising timelines as needed. They scheduled the next meeting for Tuesday April 17, 9:30-11:30 am, at the Lentz Public Health Center, 2500 Charlotte Ave, in Centennial Room C.

The main focus of the work group is to allow for sufficient public scrutiny of the relevant documents that are necessary to be in place for the creation of a new Planning Council.

Sean Muldoon, chair of the CoC Governance Board; Quan Poole, Metro legal representative, and Kyle Duvall, member of the CoC Governance Charter committee were available for an input session on Thursday, March 22, to answer questions about the governance charter and ordinance. Not many people attended the meeting, which had been publicized through the CoC membership and stakeholder lists.

The MHC/CoC Governance Workgroup members continue to revisit the timeline of the next steps. Here is the latest timeline:

  • April 19th – Final Charter given to CoC for vote in May

  • May 4th – the Commission will vote on the Ordinance if there are no substantive changes to the Charter at the April 19th meeting, contingent upon the Governance charter being approved by the CoC in May. MSS Board will also need to vote to accept the Commission’s recommendation.

  • May 17th - Final reading and vote of the Charter for the CoC, contingent on the Ordinance passing the Council

  • May 21st – File the Ordinance

  • June 5th – City Council 1st reading of the Ordinance

  • June 19th – City Council 2nd reading of the Ordinance

  • July 3rd – City Council 3rd reading of the Ordinance

  • July 18th – Hold that date for the 1st meeting of the Planning Council from 8:30a – 11:30a (location TBA)
